Chancellor May’s Statement on Violence on University Campuses in Virginia and Idaho

Chancellor Gary S. May issued the following statement today (Nov. 14):

The UC Davis community grieves with our friends and colleagues at both the University of Virginia and University of Idaho, where students were the victims of violence in separate incidents on Sunday. We are utterly heartbroken. College campuses are places where young people are forming their ideas and pursuing their dreams. That these students will not get to live out their potential is devastating. We share our sorrow with each of these communities.

For our students, if you need immediate mental health support, please call Student Health and Counseling Services at 530-752-0871. Faculty and staff can reach out to the Academic and Staff Assistance Program, which serves the Davis and Sacramento campuses.
