Pamela Burnett, director of admissions at UC Berkeley, will become director of Undergraduate Admissions and Outreach Services at UC Davis Sept. 1.

In her new role, Burnett will provide leadership for undergraduate admissions, recruitment and outreach services. The unit processes about 40,000 applications for undergraduate study and admits about 23,000 new undergraduates annually. Burnett will have responsibility for 83 FTE employees and an annual operating budget of $5 million.

Burnett has been director of admissions at UC Berkeley since 2000. With the Berkeley campus since 1969, she supervised outreach and recruitment efforts as associate director of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Relations with Schools from 1992 to 2000. She also had a one-year stint as acting assistant director for registration in 1987-88.

Burnett holds a bachelor's degree in social sciences from UC Berkeley.

Julia Kerestine is the new Director of Mediation Services at UC Davis. Kerestine began July 1, filling the post previously held by Larry Hoover, who retired at the start of the year.

Kerestine previously practiced as an independent mediation provider and as a panelist for JAMS, a nationwide private provider of Alternative Dispute Resolution services.

She will work to ensure that faculty, staff and graduate students facing conflict receive high quality confidential mediation, facilitation, education and coaching services.

For the past 12 years Kerestine has focused on alternate dispute resolution, including mediation, arbitration, neutral facilitation, preventive conflict management and training. Before shifting her practice to mediation, she worked as a lawyer for eight years in Texas, Colorado and Georgia. She holds a bachelor's degree in art history from the University of North Texas and a juris doctorate from the University of Georgia.
