IN BRIEF...

Parking permit rates increase by a dollar

Transportation and Parking Services last week announced parking permit rate increases of $1 per month for each permit type (except visitor permits) will go into effect July 1.

The cost of an A permit will be $47 per month, and the cost of a C permit will be $38 per month. The new rates reflect the third of four planned increases needed to meet parking services' increased annual operating costs and the debt service obligations of the West Entry Parking Facility Development Project. The project includes a six-level, 1,500-space parking garage to be complete in December, and TAPS office and Hutchison Drive road improvements.

Changes to recruitment, staff development policies proposed by UC

Comments are requested by June 17 regarding updates to policies on recruitment and professional development that were recently proposed by the UC Office of the President.

The updates would add "career ladder" recruitment, streamlining advancement opportunities within a class series, and would promote the use of professional development leave of up to 80 hours per calendar year. These changes would apply to all staff employees covered by Personnel Policies for Staff Members.

The proposals are available online at http://www.hr.ucdavis.edu/Policy/Development. Comments can be sent to Beverly Wilcox, bmwilcox@ucdavis.edu.
