Arrest Made in Alleged Brandishing of Weapon

A woman sought by campus police on suspicion of brandishing a handgun at a facilities staff member at UC Davis West Village earlier this week has been arrested and charged with brandishing an imitation firearm, police said.

The alleged brandishing occurred between 9 and 9:30 a.m. Wednesday (Aug. 25). Police issued a crime alert saying: “Victim was confronted by a suspect who brandished a black handgun at him and rode away on a bicycle.”

The next day, Thursday (Aug. 26), just after 4 p.m., police said they learned from West Village staff that a person matching the suspect’s description was in an apartment there. Responding officers said they caught up with the woman as she fled toward Hutchison Drive, where she was taken into custody and found to be in possession of a BB gun.

Chelsi Coulter, 29, faces charges of brandishing an imitation firearm, burglary, trespassing and vandalism, police said. She is not a UC Davis affiliate.
