At the arboretum: Music, tours, special events

  • Folk Music Jam Session -- Noon-1 p.m. March 9 and 23, 105 Music Building. Campus and community folk musicians are invited to play together during an acoustic jam session, and others are invited to listen.
  • Tour -- Noon March 14, Walk with Warren, with arboretum superintendent Warren Roberts. Gazebo, Garrod Drive.
  • Tour -- 2 p.m. March 18, "Has Spring Sprung?" Gazebo, Garrod Drive. Free parking on weekends.

Besides presenting regular tours, Friends of the UC Davis Arboretum offer the following special events in March. These events are open to the public.

  • Spring Plant Sale and Social -- 9 a.m.-1 p.m. March 17, arboretum nursery, Orchard Road near LaRue Road. The sale is limited to members of Friends of the Arboretum, but anyone is invited to join at the gate: $15 for students, $40 for others and $60 for families. Every new member receives a free plant and a 10 percent discount on purchases. Free parking in Lot 35.
  • Day trip -- 7:45 a.m.-5 p.m. March 21, San Francisco Flower and Garden Show. $55, or $45 for members of Friends of the Arboretum; includes transportation and admission. Advance registration required; contact the arboretum, (530) 752-4880 or arboretum.ucdavis.edu.
