•••

The campus is quiet, with most of our students gone for the holidays, but our lives and work go on, albeit with curtailed hours and services in many campus operations from now through New Year’s and into winter quarter.

Unitrans, the Campus Store, the ARC, the Coffee House and Silo Union, and the libraries have already switched into break mode, and more units will follow suit as we get closer to the holidays.

Office temperature

The temperature setback that is routine on weekends in administrative and classroom buildings will be extended to include the official campus holidays: Friday and Monday, Dec. 23 and 26, and Dec. 30 and Jan. 2 — which will make for two four-day weekends without heat. So, if you're coming to work those days, bring a sweater (and your own coffee).

Laboratory and animal spaces are not affected. Questions? Call Facilities Management: 530-752-1655.

Transportation

Unitrans — Note that Break Service is revised this year so that all bus lines are using the Memorial Union Terminal. There is no service on the A, C, D, J or W lines; instead, use the equivalent MU lines: Z, B, K, G, and M or P/Q. The L and V lines are also running, but, like the others, are using the MU Terminal. Call 530-752-2877 if you have questions about which line to use during Break Service.

  • No service — Saturday-Sunday, Dec. 24-25 and Dec. 31-Jan. 1.
  • Break Service (weekdays) — Through Thursday, Dec. 22.
  • Weekend Service (during winter break, Weekend Service will also be in effect on certain weekdays) — Saturday-Sunday, Dec. 17-18; Friday, Dec. 23; Monday-Friday, Dec. 26-30; and Monday, Jan. 2.
  • Break Service — Tuesday-Friday, Jan. 3-6.
  • Weekend Service — Saturday-Sunday, Jan. 7-8. Note: The Davis Farmers Market Double-Decker is normally scheduled to run on the first Saturday of the month, which would be Jan. 7. But, because of winter break, this free Saturday service has been pushed back a week to Jan. 14.
