Major requirements for the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences

A student leans over a row of plants in a field on the UC Davis Student Farm to pick a leafy, green sprout from the ground.

Students who apply for transfer admission to selective majors are required to complete major preparation courses and meet additional course and GPA requirements.

Students need to take all courses for a letter grade with no grade less than C and complete all major preparatory course requirements by the end of spring term prior to their fall enrollment. Pass/No Pass does not fulfill selective major requirements unless taken during the Covid terms of winter, spring and summer 2020. The Department Agreements as published on ASSIST are also important documents. Reference them in conjunction with the major agreements as needed. Students must complete all admission requirements by the end of spring term before they transfer. Any summer coursework completed prior to transferring will not count toward admission requirements.

Selective major requirements

Transfer students are encouraged to complete as many major preparation courses listed under other major requirements prior to transfer as shown on the ASSIST website.

Some College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences majors require additional coursework for transfer admission.

UC Davis requires a minimum 2.80 GPA for admission. Transfer Admission Guarantee, or TAG, for the College of Agricultural and Environmental requires at least a 3.20 GPA for all majors.

Students applying to the landscape architecture major should apply to pre-landscape architecture

Note: Biological Science (BIS) 002A/B/C/D will be discontinued. Fall 2027 applicants use ASSIST academic year 2025-26. Future applicants continue to monitor the ASSIST website for the new Biological Science, (BIO), course code articulation agreements.
