-- Three physicians completing oncology fellowships at the UC Davis Cancer Center have received merit awards from the American Society of Clinical Oncology for research papers they submitted for presentation at the society's annual meeting in May. Carl Gray, Luko Laptalo and Lisa Law were recognized. Gray and Laptalo performed research on the expression of the growth factor protein HER-2/neu in patients with non-small cell lung cancer and prostate cancer. Law reported the results of a clinical trial that tested a novel chemotherapy regimen for advanced bladder cancer that may be as effective as existing therapies but with fewer side effects.
