The Eye on Mrak Egghead sculpture sits beneath the canopy of a cork oak that fell in the New Year’s Eve storm. This tree was one of three cork oaks that came down on the Mrak Mall. (Gregory Urquiaga/UC Davis)

Update 2 p.m. Jan. 9: Power has been restored at all campus locations.

Update 11 a.m. Jan 9: The UC Davis campus is open this morning, Jan. 9.

Cuarto and Primero Grove residence halls and parts of West Village lost power again last night. Russell Park and The Atriums are also without power. Crews are working to restore power and clear debris.

Regan Main, the ARC Ballroom and The Green community center will be open for warming and charging devices. Core campus buildings have power and are open.

All campus dining and food retail establishments are open today except for Cuarto dining commons and the Sage Market Cafe in West Village.

Unitrans services are running a normal schedule, with detours on the P/Q line due to closure of the Pole Line overpass.

Update 6:30 p.m. Jan 8: The campus will be open as normal tomorrow, Monday (Jan. 9).

Crews have been working hard all day to clear debris from last night’s storms. The campus has power, internet and Wi-Fi working normally, and, at this point, we expect classes to be held in person on Monday as normal. Employees should plan to be at work based on their regular schedules on Monday. If things change overnight, we will send an update early Monday morning. If you have any concerns or special needs for work on Monday, please discuss them with your supervisor.

Update 3 p.m. Jan. 8: Power has been restored at the Primero Grove and Cuarto residence halls, and West Village. The Cuarto Dining Commons will be closed for dinner this evening.

PG&E crews are working on restoring power to student housing affected by last night’s storm. We are working on setting up warming centers for students at the ARC Ballroom and Regan Main building.

The Segundo and Tercero service center buildings, Memorial Union, Shields Library and other core campus buildings are open and have power for warming and to charge devices.

We expect classes to be held in person tomorrow (Jan. 9) since central campus has power and internet. Any changes regarding classes will be announced later today.

Downtown Davis and many other locations in Davis are currently without power.

More storms are expected Monday and over the next few days. Keep devices charged and, if outdoors, be aware of fallen tree limbs and avoid downed power lines.
