Beads of Courage Help Young Patients at UC Davis Health

Children being treated for serious conditions at UC Davis Health have lots of ways to pass the time, and one has the added benefit of helping them realize how brave they’re being.

UC Davis Health’s Child Life and Creative Arts Department offers the Beads of Courage program to children who are being treated for serious conditions. Each bead has a meaning — getting a shot, spending a night in the hospital, undergoing a surgery — which helps patients and family members understand how far they've come and how strong they can be. And they all come in beautiful colors and fun designs. Currently, UC Davis Health’s Beads of Courage program is solely funded by Donut Dash. Learn more in the above video.
