Connecting to the Natural World
I’ve been a web editor at UC Davis since 2000, and have a passion for finding compelling stories about people and their work. I like to team up with creative writers to figure out what the audience really wants to know.
With a father who was a biologist, I was drawn to the natural world as a child — and I still am. My favorite nonprofit is the Yolo Basin Foundation, which delivers outdoor science education to schoolchildren in the Sacramento region.
My history at UC Davis began in 1989 after 15 years working as a journalist at several California newspapers. I got to know the campus as the faculty-staff editor and later worked as a public information representative to the media.
What inspired me to do what I do?
I like to ask questions. And I like to hear stories. Who would have thought I could make a living doing this?
My longtime ambition is to work with a developing country on an educational project that makes a difference in their people’s health, well-being and quality of life.
Really bad romance novels.
