Excerpts from Chancellor Larry Vanderhoef’s May 1 message to the UC Davis Family:
I can’t imagine a more perfect next chancellor for the Davis campus than President Yudof’s recommended choice—Linda Katehi, currently provost and vice chancellor for Academic Affairs and professor of electrical and computer engineering at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. By virtually any measure, she is a superstar!
Anticipating the regents' enthusiastic approval of her appointment, we are planning a welcoming reception for her and her husband, Spyros Tseregounis, on Friday, May 8, at 11:15 a.m. in the Mondavi Center's Jackson Hall, followed by a social in the quad across from the Mondavi Center. I hope you might be able to attend. (Staff release time is appropriate with supervisory approval.)
Hats off to President Yudof and the Chancellor’s Search Advisory Committee for snaring such an extraordinarily gifted and accomplished leader. Her academic credentials are sterling, and her deep commitment to excellence and the land-grant mission was forged at three of the nation’s best public research universities.
I hope you’ll be able to help welcome her to our UC Davis family on May 8. I think the president has found us a very good match!
Chancellor Larry N. Vanderhoef
