The voting came down to the wire, but in the end two departments' pride stood out above the rest. The winners of the first Staff and Faculty Aggie Pride Photo Contest were the UC Davis Library's Special Collections unit (in the career staff category) and First-Year Experience Peer Advisors (for student staff). Their photos garnered the most likes on Facebook, and each will now receive breakfast delivered to their departments. See all the entries on the Aggie Pride Friday Facebook page.

Helping farmers and DIYers alike

You too can have the same UC Davis-designed equipment that is being used on farms in Ghana, Kenya, Bangladesh, Honduras and elsewhere around the world.

The Horticulture Innovation Laboratory is sharing instructions for building a low-cost structure to dry fruits and vegetables. The chimney solar dryer, as it's called, was designed as a contest entry by Michael Reid and James Thompson, UC Cooperative Extension specialists with UC Davis.
