Lobby doors open one hour before the ceremony begins and doors to Jackson Hall open half an hour before the ceremony begins. Ceremonies typically last 2-3 hours. Tickets are required for all guests, including babies. Seating is general admission.
Please note that 5 minutes before the start of a ceremony, ALL access to the 1st and 2nd floors will not be permitted in preparation for the processional. Guests will be asked to wait until after the processional is finished before being allowed inside. Seating will still continue on the upper levels.
The Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts is located off Old Davis Road just to the west of Vanderhoef Quad and across from the Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art. The commencement ceremonies are held in Jackson Hall which has seating for 1800 people. Jackson Hall has four seating levels along with elevator and stair access to each level. Bottled water only is allowed inside Jackson Hall. No other food or beverages may be brought inside. Mondavi staff ushers are located at each entrance to the main lobby and can assist guests with seating questions. There are wheelchair accessible spaces on every level in the hall and guests should arrive early if needing accommodation. Large bags, balloons, signs and arrangements in breakable containers will need to be checked at the patron Services Desk and can be retrieved after the ceremony as they are not allowed in the hall. The UC Davis campus is designated as smoke and tobacco free.
Lot 1 and Lot 2: Lot 1 is located directly behind the Gateway Parking Structure and has a flow through behind and to the east of the Shrem Art Museum. Lot 2 is located behind Lot 1. There are a limited number of handicapped places designated in this lot.
Gateway Parking Structure is located across from the Mondavi Center off Old Davis Road. There is a garage elevator with access to all parking levels.
Mobility and accessibility concerns:
Your college can offer special seating arrangements for graduates with mobility concerns. If you have a hearing impairment, please contact Student Disability Services. Please contact your commencement coordinator or Student Disability Services as far in advance as possible to explain your needs.
There is no shuttle service for guests who have mobility concern, but guests may be dropped off directly in front of the Mondavi Center. For those guests with mobility concern, please see the Mondavi staff ushers located at all doors in the main lobby for assistance. The Mondavi Center has four wheelchairs that guests may borrow for use on site.
For those guests with limited hearing ability, assisted listening devices may be checked out at the Patron Services Desk. See an usher for details. Sign language interpreters will be at each commencement ceremony for the general audience.
