Facility description:

The ARC Pavilion is a 5,000 seat facility located near the corner of LaRue Road and Orchard Road, one block south of Russel Blvd. The Pavilion originally opened in 1977 as the Recreation Hall. It was constructed as a multi-functional facility and was the primary venue for informal recreation on campus. The facility was renamed the Pavilion in 2004 when the Activities & Recreation Center opened.

The Pavilion has three floors: Arena/Floor, Lobby, and Concourse. Students are seated in the Arena/Floor Level during commencement, and guest seating is available on the Concourse Level. The Guest Services Center, North East Lobby Level, contains Lost & Found and checked items. First Aid station is in the South East Lobby Level. Vending machines and restrooms are located Lobby Level along the east side of the building. There is one elevator in the building and is located in the South West corner of the building.

To celebrate commencements, the Pavilion is transformed by custom blue and gold drapery, a custom stage, LED screens and other lighting effects to celebrate the occasion. There is a water hydration station located in the NE Concourse level for those with refillable containers. Food and non-alcoholic beverages may be brought into the Pavilion. The UC Davis campus is designated as smoke and tobacco free.

Please reference the Parking Map and Interactive Parking Map links.

Pavilion Parking Structure is the designated parking location for guests who will be using the mobility assistance vehicles. The Pavilion is accessible through the NE, SW and SE Concourse entrances. The SE entrance is the closest to the Pavilion Parking Structure. Please allow extra time when leaving the parking structure as several levels must exit.

Lot 25 located at the end of Orchard Rd is the closest lot to the Pavilion. There are a limited number of handicapped places designated in this lot.
Lot 35 is located across LaRue Road from the Pavilion and is a convenient location. No mobility shuttles are available from this lot.

Lots 40 and 41 provide additional parking but there is no mobility assistance shuttle service to these lots.

Mobility and accessibility concerns:

Ceremony Participants:

Your college can offer special seating arrangements for graduates with mobility problems. If you have a hearing impairment, please contact Student Disability Services. Please contact your commencement coordinator or Student Disability Services as far in advance as possible to explain your needs.

mobility access mapGuests:

For guests who are attending commencement ceremonies in the Pavilion and who need mobility assistance, UC Davis offers mobility assistance golf carts for passenger pick up and drop off near the Pavilion Parking Structure ONLY. Guests will be picked up/dropped off at the tent situated on Hutch Field just to the west of the bike path. Golf carts will take guests across Hutch Field to and from the SW entrance of the Pavilion. There is no mobility assistance pick up and drop off in Lot 25 due to pedestrian safety concerns with golf carts utilizing the same bike/pedestrian path.

For guests who will be arriving with walkers or wheelchairs, you and your accompanying adult may move along the bike/pedestrian path and use the SE Pavilion Concourse entrance. The next closest entrance is the NE Concourse. Please note that entrances have ramps that must be traversed. Please note that UC Davis does not provide wheelchairs or walkers nor personnel to assist with wheelchair movement.

Doors open to the Pavilion one hour before ceremony start time. Special accommodation seating sections are available for guests with limited mobility or who use a wheelchair (who may also be accompanied by one other member of their party). Pavilion staff can direct you to these sections. The limited mobility seating sections are located in Rows E & F in sections 207, 213, 220 and 226. The wheelchair accessible sections are located on all four Concourse corners. The building elevator is located on the Concourse Level in the SW corner. Please plan to arrive at least one hour prior to ceremony start time as mobility assistance and wheelchair accessible seating are on a first-come first serve basis and no special ticket is needed other than regular commencement ticket.
