With Sacramento, the state capital, right in our backyard, UC Davis undergraduates have easy access to internship and professional programs to prepare for a career in public policy. Spend a quarter or summer during your junior or senior year interning through the UC Center Sacramento (UCCS) for academic units.
Students from all academic disciplines will get hands-on experience in the executive and legislative work of the state through internships tailored to their career goals. Coursework taught by UC professors will provide additional in-depth exploration of how California public policy is developed. The UCCS program runs throughout the year and is available fall, winter, spring or summer quarter.
You have the flexibility of living in university-arranged housing in Sacramento or staying in your apartment or house while making valuable career contacts and building your resume through the UCCS program. Tuition is the same as you would pay to stay in Davis, and your financial aid award will be adjusted to meet the cost of the program. Since 2004, more than 1,200 students have participated in UCCS internships and many are now helping develop policy at all levels of government or with organizations that work closely with governments.
Visit the UC Center Sacramento website for a listing of the many unique organizations where our students have interned. Here is a small sampling:
