How the hall is being paid for

Cost: $21.6 million for construction

  • State funding: $16.1 million (about 75 percent)
  • Private funding: $5.5 million

Private support for construction will enable:

  • Increased seating to 400 (state funds would pay for fewer seats)
  • Upgraded acoustic designs to higher concert standards
  • Telescoping choral risers and other stage accommodations

Other fundraising plans:
$1 million-plus for endowment funds to support:

  • Production costs for concerts and performances
  • Performance recordings and production of CDs
  • Visiting artists and ensembles, performance and outreach
  • Patron services, marketing and operations of the Recital Hall
