Astrophysicist heads effort for a better look at dark matter in space

UC Davis astrophysicist Tony Tyson is leading the effort to build a new kind of telescope to map the sky. The Large Synoptic Survey Telescope or LSST will look wide, fast and deep, scanning the entire night sky every three nights for 10 years. Its mission will be to map the mysterious “dark matter” and “dark energy” that physicists say make up 95 percent of the universe.
